What’s more, it transforms villains from dated tropes to complex characters, and humanizes the people we save, and the ones who save us, in unforgettable ways. It’s hands-down the best Spider-Man game I’ve ever played, and a strong contender for the best game of a stellar release year. Overall, there’s slightly less emphasis on stealth encounters this time than in either Spider-Man or Miles Morales. As someone who found the stealth action of the previous games a little simplistic and routine, this new, louder approach is welcome. The anticipation for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 paid off as a fantastic sequel to an already-great game, and this title quickly became one of the most beloved PlayStation titles of all time.

The suit selection in this game was picked by people who are fans of the ugliest spidermen costumes ever made. Finally, the MJ missions, Peoples politics aside “woke game vs not woke” her missions are ridiculously terrible. Insomniac has MJ taking out henchmen with a ridiculous amount of ease that are challenging for both spidermen. Much like the first 2 games that have these segments, The missions aren’t fun to play, I would love an option to skip it and turn it into a cutscene. This game honestly feels unfinished and in desperate need of DLC as well. With thrilling action gameplay and a deep story, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 capitalizes on the heights of its predecessors and somehow makes New York big enough for the two web-slingers who inhabit it.

And from that you can make even more choices to equip specific elements of that attribute. Marvel’s New York will naturally be hiding lots of enigmatic and rewarding secrets in its streets and skylines, but one thing which has been given a Super Hero glow-up are the suits you can unlock for Miles and Peter. Enter the addition of Brooklyn and Queens, which nearly doubles the size of the city and offers even more familiar locations that are important to both Spider-Men. Given that Insomniac and Nixxes Software have released two other Spider-Man games on PC, fans are concerned as both of the previous releases have seen system requirements shared long before the official launch. At the end of the game’s second act, Peter saves Miles from Kraven before the two Spider-Men face off, as Miles tries to get Peter to give up the Symbiote. Miles defeats Peter and captures the Symbiote before the two of them bring the alien suit back to the destroyed rubble of the April May foundation. This fight concludes the game’s second act and sets up a tense final act, as Peter and Harry are set to face off as enemies. Ray-traced reflections quickly catch your eye in the skyscraper-filled city of Marvel’s New York as you swing along its many glass surfaces. On PS5 in 2023, Spider-Man 2 at least served as an impressive technical showcase for the hardware, and a blockbuster release in a relatively quiet release schedule. On PC in 2025, without those advantages and in a disappointingly shaky state, it’s much more difficult to recommend. The majority of the side activities wind up feeling both mechanically and narratively pointless. An electric bike race feels silly enough in a Spider-Man game, but when the stakes are just “I need someone to try out my electric bike”, it’s hard not to think Miles and Peter have more pressing stuff to be getting on with. Far too much of what you’re doing feels like padding from the early days of open world games—there’s more inspiration here from Crackdown than there is from GTA V.

It’ll be on the side of a building right on the street that divides the Upper East Side from Central Park.
